We’ve been addicted to kombucha from day one. Not only is it loaded with probiotics it is so much fun to make — It has a nice tart green apple taste to it, with an underlying sweetness that keeps it all together. And fizzy! Can you believe that something this delicious could actually be made from some tea? What’s exciting is you can make it at home with only a few ingredients.
Kombucha starts out as a sugary tea, which you will then ferment. You will need a “SCOBY” , that you can purchase or start from scratch. The Scoby (mushroom ) isknown as “symbiotic culture of bacteria and yeast.”
The scoby bacteria and yeast will eat most of the sugar in the tea, transforming the tea into a refreshingly fizzy, slightly sour fermented (but mostly non-alcoholic) beverage that is relatively low in calories and sugar. That is loaded with so many heath benefits.
